Swansea.com is pleased to announce that the pre planning application has been submitted for the change of use for The Exchange Buildings.
The Grade II listed building, which currently has Loungers Ltd confirmed to take the ground floor commercial space, is undergoing its initial pre planning application for change of use to allow for the hospitality business, together with planning for the internal reconfiguration and window replacement. Loungers Ltd are delighted to further their impression in Swansea, bringing the city’s first Cosy Club, to the historic site. They plan to attain and restore the buildings classic features in collaboration with their signature exceptional interiors.
The pre-app also allows for the change of use to the upper floors of the building, to accommodate Swansea.com’s hospitality business, The Morgans Collection’s, expansion to over 100 bedrooms within the Maritime Quarter. The overall project for this development will be submitted in several planning stages to reflect the detail of the renovation. The initial planning will show the change of use to short-term rental or hotel use, with a hopeful end goal of aparthotel bedrooms, bringing another offering of accommodation to the city.
Swansea.com Group Managing Director, Jacob Hughes, has said “It’s a very exciting project and we’re thrilled to have submitted pre-app to assist Cosy Club in taking occupation as early as possible. The development of a Grade II listed building is both meticulous and incredibly rewarding, we have been working closely with Holland Heritage and Swansea Council’s Heritage Lead, Steve Smith, to ensure we are all working to restore and retain the building’s historic features.”
